Details 

  • The Flying Monkey Grand Tournament is a competitive Kings of War tournament taking place during the Flying Monkey Con. 
  • Expect some fun competition as we are expecting high caliber play taking place.

Schedule

Day 1

Doors Open: 8 a.m.
Registration: 8 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Round 1: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Lunch: 12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Round 2: 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Round 3: 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Day 2

Round 4: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Round 5: 12 p.m. -  2 p.m.

Times may vary depending on quickness of games


Format
  • Army Lists: Army lists are due at check-in. To help speed up check-in it is advised to send a copy of your army list via message to Stanton C Lowe via Facebook Messenger.
  • Clash of Kings 2019 Rules apply along with the most current Kings of War FAQ. 
  • Point Limit:2250pts 
  • Number of Tournament Rounds: 5
  • Scoring - The tournament will be scored using the 15 win, 10 draw, 5 loss system.
  • Time Clocks - will be used for this tournament. Both players are allotted 1hr on their clock and will run time on their clock while it’s their turn. Players will not stop clocks unless there is a rules question. If a player runs out time, they will immediately put their dice down, and their opponent will proceed with their remaining turns until the end of the game, or their time also expires.
  • Players will be given 10 minutes before the start of each round for game setup.
  • Time extensions will be applied accordingly for individual rounds in case of restroom issues, etc.
  • Required Items - Players are expected to bring all essential items to play in the tournament. Players are also to have 6 copies of their list printed out, one for registration and one for each of their opponents for every round.
  • Usable armies - all armies in the core Kings of War rule book, Uncharted Empires army supplement book, Twilight Kin army Pdf from Kings of War free rules section on www.manticgames.com, and Historical rule book will be allowed. Units with the Skirmisher special rule from the Historical book will be treated as individuals for the purposes of scoring (unit strength zero).

  • Scenarios- Scenarios will be provided at the beginning of each round before set-up. They will be chosen from the Clash of Kings 2019 book.

Awards

If a person qualifies for multiple awards, the award with the highest value will be awarded, and the other award(s) will be given to the next highest qualifier(s).

  • Best Attrition - An individual who accumulates the highest Attrition score throughout the tournament.
  • Best Sportsmanship Award - An individual who receives the most votes for best sportsman.
  • Dead Freaking Last - The individual who scored the lowest overall battle points.
  • Best Painted Army Award - In order to qualify for this award, the individual's army must have at least 3 minimum colors on all models/units and all units must be based.
  • Best General - The individual with the highest number of tournament points (battle points). In the event of a tie, the person with the most attrition points will take best general. Best general will be deemed the winner of the tournament.

  • Raffle - Throughout the tournament raffle prizes will be given out. Each person will have their name entered once into the raffle prize pool.
  • Door Prizes – That’s right, you’ll get cool stuff just for showing up!
  • Best State – This is Border wars! We will take the top three scores from each state. The state with the highest score will receive the border wars trophy for 2019! When signing up please be sure to tell us which state you are from for match-up and scoring purposes.


Tournament Policies


  • W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G - We want to strongly encourage the players to model their miniatures in a way that is fair to their opponent and is in the spirit of the game. We also encourage conversion work, that said if you have a conversion that might be questionable please email us at flyingmonekygt@gmail.com with photo's of the model. 
  • Cheating - If it is found that you are cheating in any way you will be immediately disqualified and asked to leave the Con.
